The final results fo 2020 harvest was definitely excellent!!

The  bud break was at the end of March and we suffered, if slightly, for late frost  . The spring as well the beginning of the summer  started well  with warm  and sunny days but  finished quite  wet and cool and rainy  and it was not easy   because it forced us to   sprays the vineyards several times . Furtherly the managing of the canopy was not easy because the availability of water in the ground  pushed the vines to produce a lot of vegetation  and we need to edge the vine several times . Anyway it did not affect the fruit set but delayed the regular development of the fruit . The summer really started  in July  was  warm  and quite dry but we did not suffer for problem  of draught  because of the deposit of water the soils made previously. Also the temperature even if warm was not really hot , except for a few days.

So at the end of August the ripening was quite late and someone was afraid the grapes were not able to reach the full ripeness.

Luckily, as it  often happen when the summer started later , we had   one of the best September ever : a long period of Sunny and  warm days  ( but not too hot and followed by the typical cool  night of the period) allows the grapes the rich the full ripeness  at the end of September beginning of October in perfect conditions . The crop was smaller than average because of the small damage due to late frost previously mentioned . The quality was very good  with grapes healthy and well balanced ,which allows us to produce wines rich  of  fruit character, with nice acidity and good structure both available for  early drinking and long ageing. In the year of  Covid the quality of the harvest was one of  the few positive thing to remember !
