After several years of testing the growing of non-traditional grape varietes, and then experiencing new blends, in 2003 we found the final “formula” for this wine. Beyond Sangiovese wines, the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah in equal quantities is the best expression of the terroir at Fattoria di Basciano. Very structured and complex wine, it matches with red meats, stewed meats, game, roasted meats and aged cheeses perfectly.
GRAPES:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot e Syrah.
TECHNIQUE:
The three varietes are fermented separately; the maceration (skin contract) lasts for about 25 days. The blend is made before trasferring the wine in barrels. The ageing is eighteen months long and takes place in half new and half one-year used French oak barriques. The wine stays in bottle for six months before being released.
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS:
Deep ruby red colour. Very aromatic nose, showing plum, berry and well-integrated hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is ripe, full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. |
